Located in the urban coastal City of Yantai, the local client’s desire was to upgrade the penthouse units of seven existing high-rise towers, by adding glass-enclosed, conditioned roof-top sun rooms, thus providing the penthouse residents with access to the roof level.  To provide usable outdoor spaces to the glass sun-rooms, a series of typical roof-top gardens were designed to support a year-round outdoor entertainment lifestyle, and allow residents to enjoy the spectacular views from the 30 story towers.  Roof-top garden conveniences include: wood terracing, shade trellises, ‘al fresco’ cook centers, raised planters and pottery, built-in seating and fireplaces, as well as serene water walls.  Contemporary Zen-themed plantings, such as Bamboo and flowering perennials, soften and enhance the roof terraces.
